About SPENI
The Speculative Engineering Institute (SPENI) inquires into emerging relations of material, technology and construction in architecture and building. Linking hybrid methods and practices from design and engineering, it explores, develops and probes in experimental, interdisciplinary and practice-based formats across scales – from material-driven assemblies over prototypes of production and conceptual joints over prototypes of spatial demonstrators prefabrication and production technologies to the fabrication of spatial demonstrators and innovations of ressource and value chains. With a strong interest in social relevance and future applications, SPENI integrates craft traditions, cultural techniques and digital technologies in teaching and research with diverse partners in business and industry.
